To answer a question…

Some of my friends have been asking me how in the world I get some of these off-the-wall and crazy side jobs that I do. Here is the answer, as simple as I can put it *lol*…

I’ve been working with experiential marketing/promotions companies for over a year now outside of doing promo stuff with all things music. Within the past year I’ve worked at a bajillion festivals for music and sports—and even some random multi-city guerilla marketing campaigns.

How do I get hired for the different jobs? There are a numerous amount of event staffing companies that you can create a profile with. You can opt to have emails sent to you when there are jobs in your area, and then you can apply for the ones that interest you. Just because you apply doesn’t mean that you will get the job. The clients look for different things, so it just depends if you fit what they want.

The pay is great. The hours can sometimes be long. The jobs are often not too hard, but can be difficult if you don’t like talking to random people or being on your feet actually *working*. The hardest thing I’ve ever had to do with build a batting cage and that’s not something that happens frequently at all!

No. These places are not all scams. They aren’t asking for your picture so that they can assume your identity. Like I mentioned above, some clients want specific things in their event staff so they need to see what you look like. I mean, if a client wants a dude who is clean shaven, they need to be able to see if the potential staffer would fit that mold.

If you want to take a look at a large listing of agencies and see job postings, I encourage you to browse stuckforstaff.us to give you a better idea. You’ll have to register with agencies which you are interested in one at a time.

I’ve always had a great time doing the different events, as you know.
